Race to 100

As part of learning about place value, the students played Race to 100.  They each had to roll a die.  They then took that many units (worth 1).  Play continued.  Each time they had 10 units, they had to trade up for a rod (worth 10).  The first one to reach 100, or 10 rods, wins!
