"How To" (Procedural) Writing

To begin learning about how to write the steps to something, the students first had to explain to me how to put on a coat.  This was really very interesting as they would try to start with things such as "put your coat on".  I put the coat across the top of my head!  We quickly learned we had to be more specific. 
Then we went outside for some fresh air.  They had to explain to someone how to do something.  Pretty funny!
